Exhibit showing - November through February 26, 1999
Artist's Statement "My work gathers inspiration for images from observation of many sources, from travel to Italy, England, and the Middle East, and through an ongoing examination of the inward self. My work has been exhibited in the Southeastern art community and beyond with portrayals of women in personal, quiet moments. "Recent work has stressed the iconographic side of women, The Blessed Virgin Mary, and the Saints, with haloes and backgrounds derived from religious and secular images from my early years. I draw upon these resources for portrayals of spirituality." The Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Reconciliation is oil and gold and silver leaf, 24" x 24", painted in 1997. The painting reflects the title in the Marian Liturgies, The Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Reconciliation, as Mary is associated with God in reconciliation of sinners. PATRICIA A LYLE
