| About the Artist |
Georgia Armstrong Askew has a B.S. Degree in Art from the University of Cincinnati. She returned after graduation for further studies in painting, drawing, composition, sculpture, and jewelry making. She also studied painting and drawing at the Art Academy of Cincinnati and given private instruction from various professors of the university and the academy. She attended national workshops in watercolor landscape and watercolor florals.
She is a member of the Woman's Art Club of Cincinnati, the Northern Arizona Watercolor Society, an artist member of the Cincinnati Branch of the MacDowell Society and of the Cincinnati Branch of the National League of American Pen Women, a member of the Liturgical Art Guild, and Christians in the Visual Arts.
Mrs. Armstrong Askew has had numerous solo shows and has exhibit ed in group exhibits locally, regionally, and nationally, winning prizes and awards at all levels.
She for many years taught private classes in painting and drawing , and gave workshops in those media and fabric maché . She also taught in the Adult Education Program of the local public school system and in other educational facilities. She has given slide lectures showing the use of Christian symbols in various works of art as well as practicum of using them in producing art. Mrs Askew is a Certified Lay Speaker of the United Methodist Church. She is also a member of the Disciplined Order of Christ.
