Ellen Maria Vos

Ellen Maria Vos was born in Amsterdam into a family of ancient artists, among them Charles, Hubert, Henri and Frans Vos.  She was educated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, the Hague, the Netherlands.  

Vos has participated in several group-exhibitions and projects, such as sculptures made in reed, Kortrijk Belgium; reliefs in concrete, Rennes France; ice-sculptures, Quebec Canada.  Co-operations with architects and artists, such as a city made in bronze with sculptor J.J. Beljon.  Assignments by companies and private persons, such as wall paintings and a tryptic for a private library.  She also has works owned by institutions and private persons at home and abroad.  

Since 1984 Vos has taught at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, the Hague, the Netherlands.  Her works displayed here are lyrical-abstracts with figurative elements made with acrylic paint on canvas, built up in glazed layers.
