Artist Biography

Artist Barbara Goretzky works and plays in the small prairie town of Lumsden, Saskatchewan. She has studied printmaking at the University of Saskatchewan. She has continued her art training in ceramics and encaustics by attending workshops and artis residencies throughout North America.

Her insight and humor characterize her ceramic portraits of animals and people. Whimsy best describes Barb's colorful sculptured ceramic garden art in the form of her birdbaths and water fountains.

Experiencing the world has become an integral part of Barbara's art. She has travelled throughout Europe, China, Japan and many points in between. Using mixed media encaustic painting has allowed Barb to interpret her travel experiences. In all of Barb's art, she wishes to delight and engage the eye of the beholder.

Her art is regularly shown in group and solo shows and held in many private, corporate and gallery collections.

Until recently Barb owned and operated an art gallery representing national and international artists in a variety of mediums.
