Artist: Louise Tessier, Regina, Saskatchewan Original design continuous loop rug hooking created with hand dyed new and recycled wool fabric
Combining her passions for the written word, botanical themes, carving, stamping and working with clay, Louise (Hudec) Tessier finds great satisfaction in creating her original design clary art tiles and linoleum prints. Once a design is created, it is transferred to a linoleum block, carved and used as a stamp which can be impressed onto paper or clay slabs. The complete process brings together the disciplines of graphic arts, printmaking and ceramics... resulting in an innovative surface treatment to each "Garden Rhymes" piece.
Louise was born and raised in Leader, Saskatchewan and she received her Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan (with areas of concentration in art and music). Upon completing university, Louise taught elementary school in Saskatoon and she has made Regina her home for the past 26 years.
Inspired by music, poetry and gardens, Louise loves to use her hands: from creating designs to molding clay, from stamping onto clay, fabric and paoer to marketing her products and in recent years, adapting her designs to her new passion – rug hooking, Louise creates, carves and colors to her heart's content!
