28. Jesus Carrying the Cross

Unknown Kuna artist
Reverse embroidery mola
15 x 17 1/2

This striking hand embroidered mola, created by the Kuna Indians off the coast of Panama, quite dramatically
portrays Jesus as he stumbles carrying his cross on the way to Calvary. Others watch, saddened
and unable to help the Christ.

John 19: 17
So the soldiers took charge of Jesus. 17Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull
(which in Aramaic is called Golgotha).
